Sabrina Carpenter puts an unlikely spin on her new album cover

Upon unveiling my latest album, Man’s Best Friend, I encountered a significant wave of criticism directed at the initial cover art. The depiction of me on my knees in front of an individual (who appeared to be a man) holding my hair was perceived as disrespectful towards women. It’s unlikely that this was my intention, but evidently, the message did not come across as intended.

It’s apparent that she has taken into account opinions from those who disliked the original cover. Yet, instead of sticking with the initial design, she’s created an alternate version showcasing Carpenter at what seems like a gala event. In this new cover, she is depicted standing and holding onto a man, while her gaze appears to be directed elsewhere.

The image resembles those from the late 1950s featuring Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller. Chances are, no one would object to this alternate cover design.

To add an extra dash of intrigue (and humor), Carpenter shared the revised album artwork on her Instagram account, stating, “Here’s a fresh, divine-approved alternate cover for you!

Surely, since almost everyone gets annoyed about certain matters, there are those who seem to get irritated by everything. For instance, Carpenter stating that the new cover has been approved by “God” might stir some metaphorical tempests. However, it’s important to remember that she’s merely being sarcastic.

It’s unfortunate that Carpenter initially chose the controversial art for “Man’s Best Friend,” but she made that decision herself. It might have been wiser for her to leave it at just that artwork since once it’s online, it’s permanent. However, she wasn’t compelled to create a new cover, although she did.

The new album isn’t due out until two more months have passed, specifically on August 29th. Fans and Carpenter herself are crossing their fingers that the music on this record will live up to all the buzz surrounding its controversial cover art. Prior to her breakout Short n’ Sweet album in 2024, she had already released five other records.

After the first release of the new album, it isn’t certain that there will be enough high-quality songs to maintain its position at the top of the Billboard album charts. Alternatively, Carpenter might produce another hit in succession.
