Actor Ryan Reynolds, known for his role as Deadpool, made an appearance in episode 13 of Season 3 on The X-Files. This particular episode was named Syzygy, and in it, Reynolds played the character Jay “Boom” DeBoom. While Reynolds’ part in this episode was relatively minor, it carried great importance.
In the movie Syzygy, Reynolds portrays Boom, a character who offers a lift to Terri Roberts, played by Lisa Robin Kelly, and Margi Kleinjan, acted by Wendy Benson. The ladies inform Boom that a cult is on the hunt for a young, blonde virgin for their upcoming ritual sacrifice.
The camera captures the girls skillfully maneuvering Boom into altering his course. The following day, authorities find Boom’s corpse dangling from a precipice. From their vantage point, Terri and Margi secretly observe the scene, chuckling at the unfolding spectacle.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my chuckles after stumbling upon Ryan Reynolds in that iconic sci-fi series. Fun fact: Back when he was filming for The X-Files, the guy who’s married to Blake Lively was probably just 19 or 20 years old!
Discussing the unexpected appearance of young Ryan Reynolds in the series, a viewer hypothesized on Reddit, “Perhaps he’s from Vancouver, where X-Files was shot. I think that could be why he was there.” Another commented that he seemed less recognizable due to his plump cheeks.
