As a fan who has closely followed the careers of both Ryan Reynolds and Rob Delaney, I must admit that their recent tribute to Henry Delaney touched me deeply. Losing a child is an unimaginable tragedy, and it’s heartening to see these two talented individuals using their platforms to honor his memory.
Ryan Reynolds recently posted a heartfelt message on social media in honor of Rob Delaney’s late son.
What Did Ryan Reynolds Say About Rob Delaney’s Son?
Back in early 2018, Delaney’s young son, Henry, sadly passed away due to a brain tumor. Reynolds deeply regrets that he didn’t incorporate a tribute to Henry in the final scenes of Deadpool 2, where Rob made his debut as Peter Wisdom.
In an Instagram post, Reynolds expressed that there’s more depth to Rob Delaney than many people might think. He described Delaney as having a subtle yet profound sense of humor, and as a gifted, sharp, and open writer. If you watched the end credits of Deadpool and Wolverine, you may have seen a credit for “For Henry Delaney.” This is because Henry is Rob’s son. Sadly, Rob lost his young boy to a brain tumor in 2018, just as they completed Deadpool 2.

Reynolds goes so far as to say he’s “kicked his own ass” over not including a special salute to Henry at the end of Deadpool 2. Reynolds made up for his error by including Henry’s name in the credits for Deadpool & Wolverine, so the two Delaneys could share the same screen. Reynolds ended his post with a moving testimonial about Rob.
“Rob’s viewpoint on unfathomable sorrow is exceptionally vivid. He examines grief in a raw, angry, loving, sad, and surprisingly funny (yes, FUNNY) manner through his book titled A Heart That Works,” Reynolds penned. “It’s an exceptional work of literature that delves into the vibrant spectrum of emotions Henry’s passing unearthed. I consider myself fortunate to know Rob. And I’m grateful for friends who aren’t afraid to expose themselves, helping others realize they’re not alone.”
See Delaney reprise his role as Peter in Deadpool & Wolverine, now in theaters everywhere.
