Ryan Reynolds allegedly takes a jab at Justin Baldoni amid Blake Lively lawsuit update
Ryan Reynolds seemed to make a subtle criticism of Justin Baldoni regarding their business ethics in a recent TIME100 Companies profile, as his legal dispute with Baldoni and Blake Lively continues. Reynolds stated, “If you base your actions on certain values and integrity, they will support you. If you’re not so honorable, they won’t.” This remark appears to allude to how Reynolds’ companies behaved during the controversy in question.
He added, “Accessibility and accountability are a big part of how I do things.”
In January 2025, Justin Baldoni took legal action against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others for a staggering $400 million. This lawsuit stems from claims of defamation and extortion that followed an accusation of sexual harassment made by Lively. Additionally, Baldoni filed a separate libel suit involving their publicist and The New York Times. However, Baldoni firmly denies all the allegations levied against him.
Previously this month, a judge discarded his counterclaim in its entirety. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, declared they would not modify their court filings but instead concentrate on defending against Lively’s accusations. “My client will be exploring other legal routes open to us,” Freedman expressed.
In the TIME article, Reynolds stated that legal scrutiny didn’t affect his projects. Essentially, he said, “I might read something praising me to high heavens, or something criticizing me severely. Either way, it doesn’t mean a thing.” He further added, “We are not defined by our greatest achievements, nor by our biggest mistakes.
Since the complaint, Baldoni’s professional journey has encountered obstacles such as Liz Plank leaving the Man Enough podcast in December 2024. In a public declaration, Plank demonstrated ongoing commitment to principles that resonate with Lively’s. Shortly after her departure, Baldoni filed a countersuit. The podcast has been on a break since October 2024.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have not commented directly on the ongoing proceedings.
