Ryan Reynolds Celebrates 10 Years of Deadpool With New Video

Ryan Reynolds is celebrating the tenth anniversary of Deadpool with a new video.

In the online space labeled as X, Reynolds shared a compressed video showcasing what seems like the full length of both Deadpool and Wolverine, along with the whole Deadpool 2 movie; yet, these films have been significantly sped up, resulting in a brief 32-second clip.

What did Ryan Reynolds say about the Deadpool video?

“A decade really zips by,” Reynolds’ caption reads. “Deadpool started filming 10 years ago.”

The video conspicuously lacks scenes from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Reynolds first portrayed the Wade Wilson character. Instead, it concludes with a scene reminiscent of the Deadpool test footage that leaked online in July 2014.

In February 2016, Tim Miller directed the first Deadpool movie, which went on to be a blockbuster hit, earning over $750 million worldwide. It held the title of highest-grossing R-rated film until it was surpassed by subsequent Deadpool films, as well as Joker in 2019 and Oppenheimer in 2023.

In 2018, the sequel to Deadpool, titled Deadpool 2 and directed by David Leitch, hit the screens, while this past summer saw the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas, marking Wade’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has left fans speculating about what future project might see Deadpool making an appearance.

Despite this, Reynolds has kept quiet about what lies ahead for the character. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in December 2024, he expressed his view that Deadpool could function best as a supporting or ensemble player, rather than taking on a leading role in future Marvel films.

As a gamer, I’d say, “Deadpool thrives when he’s cornered with no options left. But another round of that feels repetitive and unoriginal. Yet, it doesn’t mean we compromise on the fun factor. There’s still a captivating storyline for Deadpool that promises a fulfilling and powerful gaming experience.

Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine are all currently available to stream on Disney+.
