In Christopher Priest and Joe Quesada’s latest Marvel Knights miniseries, “The World To Come,” the first issue lays the groundwork for the storyline. The storyline unfolds with T’Challa having perished, and it jumps across time to illustrate its repercussions. A past scene, set several years before the main timeline, features an elderly T’Challa competing against Ketema, a man wearing a Black Panther costume, in a tribal contest. As the conversation between these characters progresses, it becomes clear that Ketema is actually T’Challa’s son, and they harbor strong feelings of hostility towards each other.
In the end, Ketema manages to outdo his father and unveils his identity, showcasing his blonde hair and fair complexion. He proclaims boldly, “Now I rule. Wakanda belongs to me.
It’s worth noting that this situation sheds light on the fact that T’Challa rekindled his relationship with Monica Lynne following the breakdown of his marriage to Storm (a member of the X-Men). At some stage, Lynne found herself pregnant, but considering both her and T’Challa are African descendants, it seems improbable that Ketema is the child from this pregnancy. Additionally, there remains ambiguity over whether Ketema is indeed T’Challa’s biological offspring.
