A fresh teaser for the upcoming Western film, titled “Rust,” which has been surrounded by controversy, has been unveiled. This time around, Alec Baldwin portrays an outlaw in the trailer. The movie is set to premiere on May 2, 2025. Falling Forward Films and Ascending Media Group will be responsible for its theater and video-on-demand distribution respectively.
In the 1880s Wyoming, Lucas Hollister, who has recently become an orphan and inadvertently killed a rancher, is condemned to hang. However, his long-lost grandfather, the infamous outlaw Harland Rust, rescues him from jail and they embark on a journey towards Mexico. As they travel through the harsh wilderness, Lucas and his grandfather must evade U.S. Marshal Wood Helm and a relentless bounty hunter known as Preacher who are hot on their trail.

What happens in the Rust trailer?
The video depicts Baldwin’s character setting off on an intense trip to Mexico with his grandson. It also showcases some pulse-pounding scenes from the film. The ensemble cast features Rance Fisher, Josh Hopkins, Travis Fimmel, Patrick Scott McDermott, Devon Werkheiser, Rhys Coiro, Xander Berkeley, Jake Busey, Abraham Benrubi, Travis Hammer, Nick Farnell, Sam Carson, Richard Gunn, and Easton Malcolm.
The film “Rust” is orchestrated by director Joel Souza and penned by both Souza and Baldwin as its storyline. Prior to its premiere, the production encountered a significant scandal due to an unfortunate accident involving the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. This tragic incident occurred when a live bullet was accidentally discharged from Alec Baldwin’s prop gun on the set of the movie.
After the event, Baldwin faced charges of involuntary manslaughter. However, the case against him was dropped in July because the prosecution neglected to provide crucial evidence. Apart from Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film’s armorer, was also implicated in the incident. She is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence.
The movie is created by Baldwin, Matt DelPiano, Grant Hill, Anjul Nigam, Ryan Donnell Smith, Melina Spadone, Ryan Winterstern, and Nathan Klingher. However, unlike typical producers, they won’t receive any financial gains from this film. Instead, the profits will be directly allocated to Matthew Hutchins’ husband Matt and son Andros as part of a settlement agreement. In a previous report, it was mentioned that this arrangement has been made in this manner.
