Rs 5 crore legal notice against Nayanthara’s documentary makers for using Chandramukhi’s footage without consent

On November 18, 2024, Nayanthara shared glimpses of previously unknown aspects of her life through her documentary, titled “Nayanthara: Beyond The Dreams.” However, the project faced backlash following Dhanush’s allegation that the actress and producers had used a clip from his film “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” without obtaining his prior approval.

Now, several months since its debut, the documentary is back in focus for the same reasons it initially drew attention.

Makers of Nayanthara’s documentary receive legal notice for her documentary

According to an article from Cinema Express, the creators behind Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary were served a formal warning by AP International, the entity that owns the copyrights for the 2005 movie “Chandramukhi.

To clarify, the actress incorporated clips from a movie she starred alongside Rajinikanth in her personal documentary. However, the production team has stated that this action was carried out without prior approval.

Additionally, it was asserted that the team disregarded prior legal communications regarding the use and removal of the footage from the documentary sent to the actress and her representatives. Not only did they ignore these requests, but they also sought a reparation of INR 5 crores from them.

Nayanthara and makers of her documentary asked to disclose earnings

In the current situation, the court has ordered both Tarc Studious and Netflix to remove the scenes featuring Chandramukhi from their respective documentaries.

Furthermore, it is expected that the producers of the Rajinikanth film will reveal their earnings from the docu-film’s release in the court submission they file.

As a lifestyle expert, I must mention that the Jawaan actress has remained silent on this topic thus far, and no public response or action has been observed from her camp regarding it.
