“Roofman” – A Fresh Crime Film, Helmed by Director Cianfrance
When is the release date for Roofman?
Roofman will be released in United States theaters on October 3, 2025, from Paramount and Miramax.
Drawing inspiration from actual events, the movie “Roofman” tells the tale of a man who was once an Army Ranger and is grappling with fatherhood. Faced with financial hardships, he resorts to a unique form of robbery – cutting open roofs of McDonald’s restaurants, hence earning the moniker ‘Roofman.’ After serving time in prison, he begins a fresh life while concealing himself within a toy store. Here, he develops feelings for a single mother and her two children. However, his criminal past and a final act of theft endanger his opportunity for redemption.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d say, “I learned that Roofman, the game, was penned by Cianfrance and Kirk Gunn. The brilliant minds of Lynette Howell Taylor, Jamie Patricof, and Duncan Montgomery are the ones who produced this film.
In addition to Tatum and Cianfrance, Jonathan Montepare, Becky Sloviter, Thom Zadra, Charles Barsamian, Chris Parker from Limelight, Jonathan Glickman from Miramax, as well as Jack Selby, Sam Romano, and Rick Covert from High Frequency, are also serving as executive producers.
In 1998, Cianfrance launched his career as a feature film director with “Brother Tied,” a movie he himself penned. His next venture was the 2010 release “Blue Valentine,” starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. Following this, he collaborated once more with Gosling for the 2012 production “The Place Beyond the Pines.” This film featured an ensemble cast including Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Dane DeHaan, Rose Byrne, and Mahershala Ali.
After that, Cianfrance moved forward to direct the 2016 film “The Light Between the Oceans,” starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, which is his most recent directorial project. However, he also served as an executive producer and contributed to the story for the 2020 release “Sound of Metal,” featuring Riz Ahmed. This film was recognized with a nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.
