As a devoted wrestling fan who has followed Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch’s careers since their early days, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment that their highly-anticipated dream match never materialized within the confines of WWE. Both women were at the peak of their game, embodying strength, resilience, and charisma that captivated audiences worldwide.
The much-hyped showdown between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch was unfortunately never materialized within the WWE arena, despite both women being at their professional best during their tenure. However, following her break from WWE, Rousey made a comeback at the Royal Rumble event in 2022.
After winning the Women’s Royal Rumble, fans anticipated that Rousey would challenge Becky Lynch. However, she opted to battle Charlotte Flair for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 38 instead. Simultaneously, Becky Lynch surrendered her RAW Women’s Championship to Bianca Belair during the same event.
A year after their respective placements on SmackDown and RAW, Rousey and Lynch’s anticipated bout never came to fruition. Fans were eagerly waiting for their showdown at WrestleMania 39, but it didn’t transpire. Instead, Lynch participated in a trio tag team match, while Rousey teamed up with Shayna Baszler in a fatal four-way tag team match.
After WrestleMania 39, where she fought Shayna Baszler in her last WWE bout at SummerSlam, Rousey decided to step away from the WWE a few months later. Subsequently, she took part in some independent wrestling events. In a recent conversation on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast, Rousey disclosed that it was Vince McMahon, the former CEO of WWE, who didn’t schedule her match against Becky Lynch.
Ronda Rousey blames Vince McMahon for not booking Becky Lynch match
In a chat with Chris Van Vliet on his podcast, former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey talked about her book and her respect for Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. When queried about why her match against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania didn’t materialize, Rousey explained, “I guess it’s because Vince (McMahon) is a tough old man to please.”
Despite the fact that Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair squared off against each other in a Triple Threat bout at WrestleMania 35, the long-awaited one-on-one encounter between Rousey and Lynch, a dream match for many fans, never took place.
In my fervent enthusiasm, I find myself contemplating the current situation of Rousey being pregnant with her second child, which appears to postpone her potential comeback to professional wrestling indefinitely. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch is taking a well-deserved break from WWE. This coveted dream match between us two, a spectacle that wrestling fans worldwide have long anticipated, sadly remains unrealized and unfulfilled.
