It turns out we underestimated the significance of Rod Stewart, who recently turned 80. While his musical relevance may have waned in recent times, he has somehow managed to remain an icon, even if specific reasons are hard to pinpoint. Perhaps it’s his distinctive vocal talent that keeps him in the limelight.
Lately, Sir Rod has expressed his political opinions about the UK through speech, which he is entitled to do, given his British citizenship and the freedom of expression granted in the nation where one resides. It’s important to note that while he has this right, it doesn’t mean everyone needs to align with his recent views, as many have expressed disagreement with them.
Stewart acknowledges that he holds favorable opinions towards Nigel Farage, a significant figure in the UK’s departure from the European Union, and Donald Trump, a controversial U.S. president. While it’s within Farage’s rights to express his views, it doesn’t mean we are obligated to feel the same way about either him or Stewart.
Rod Stewart might get a late-career surge due to some controversy he stirred
The problem arose more recently before Stewart’s Glastonbury festival performance, during which Irish hip-hop group Kneecap criticized him first, followed by Kate Nash. At their performance, Kneecap questioned if anyone was planning to attend Stewart’s show the following day (many did). They showed no interest in Stewart’s opinions regarding Farage.
Nash elevated the situation significantly. Addressing the audience, she exclaimed, “This one is dedicated to Keir Starmer, J.K. Rowling, Rod Stewart, and that certain individual named Nigel!
The opinions expressed by Rowling about transgender individuals are quite vocal. On the other hand, Starmer is known for holding more traditional or conventional views.
Imagining you’re a Rod Stewart admirer, you might appreciate his classic hits that were popular decades ago. If that’s the case, you should know that during his Glastonbury performance, he had some special guests. Mick Hucknall from Simply Red teamed up with him for a performance of “If You Don’t Know Me by Now,” and Ronnie Wood, who was in Faces with Stewart, joined him for a few songs as well.
Stewart’s complete playlist is provided (and indeed, it includes many covers), but what stands out amidst all the chaos is Rod Stewart. The increased interest in his music due to recent headlines will likely boost its streaming numbers, thereby adding to his existing net worth of close to $300 million. There’s nothing questionable about enhancing his wealth a bit further, is there?
