The mobile version of Rocket League spinoff Sideswipe, available on Apple devices, has encountered a setback for European users as they are unable to download or update the game on their iOS devices. The publisher, Epic Games, attributes this problem to Apple’s side, stating that they aren’t sure why it occurred at this time. Epic Games is currently communicating with Apple in an attempt to resolve the issue.
On the official Rocket League Status social media platform, both Epic Games and developer Psyonix acknowledged an ongoing issue impacting Rocket League Sideswipe in the EU region. In a subsequent post, CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, pointed fingers at Apple for causing the problem. The teams are currently investigating the matter to determine what transpired and find a suitable resolution.
In simple terms, Apple has stopped distributing Rocket League Sideswipe through the Epic Games Store on iOS within the European Union. We’re currently collaborating with Apple to clarify the situation and find a solution to re-list the game.

2021 saw the announcement and release of Rocket League Sideswipe, yet its journey has been marked by events involving Epic Games and their legal disputes with Apple. In a twist of circumstances, Epic Games was compelled to unveil Sideswipe and another mobile game during their court case with Apple over Fortnite’s removal from iOS. However, favorable decisions such as the EU’s DMA ruling against Google, permitting other app stores in its ecosystem, enabled Epic Games to introduce an Epic Games Store application on iOS. This move allowed them to offer games like Rocket League Sideswipe and Fortnite to European players.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that Sideswipe on iOS via the Epic Games Store has suddenly stopped receiving support from Apple. It’s a mystery right now what could be behind this move. But fear not! Keep your eyes glued to the Epic Games Store for more updates. We’ll find out soon enough.
