As a grown adult, Robert Pattinson, known for his role in Mickey 17, has developed a higher sensitivity towards horror films. In a recent chat, he admitted to having consumed a lot of “dark content” during his younger years. However, as time passed, he seems to have lost the initial craving for this genre that he once had.
Why can’t Robert Pattinson watch horror movies?
Robert Pattinson, now aged 38, is open about his evolving connection with horror films, particularly as an adult. In a recent GQ interview to publicize his new film, Mickey 17, the British heartthrob from Twilight discussed how he’s become more sensitive towards horror movies in later life.
Previously, Robert Pattinson admitted to audiences that he used to enjoy a lot of dark content as a youngster, finding it ‘cool’. Nowadays, however, he finds himself too sensitive towards such themes. It might seem counterintuitive, but as we age, one would expect to grow less fearful of these intense subjects. Regrettably, he can no longer watch horror movies due to this sensitivity.
Additionally, Pattinson mentioned an occurrence not long ago when watching a horror movie left him persistently feeling as if an intruder was invading his home. The actor elaborated, “I became quite frightened. I had to have a meeting with the director, and he’d created this horror film, and I viewed it, and I kept imagining that someone was breaking into my house.
In a recent development, his newfound apprehension led him to take hold of “two kitchen knives” as a precaution, intending to “remain vigilant” until the person arrived. Pattinson further explained, “Then I fell asleep with them almost touching my neck on the couch. It was likely just a squirrel.
Additionally, Pattinson shared an amusing incident involving his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse. He mentioned that she was perplexed when she found him asleep with two knives near his neck. He explained, “My girlfriend walked in and asked, ‘What’s going on? Why do you have two knives by your face while you’re sleeping?'” The former Twilight star’s ambivalent feelings towards horror movies struck a chord with social media users, who affectionately labeled him as the ideal Gen Z Batman.
At present, Robert Pattinson is garnering captivating accolades for his acting in the movie “Mickey 17,” directed by Academy Award winner Bong Joon Ho. Critics have been particularly impressed with Pattinson’s “energetic and rebellious portrayal(s),” which have earned him widespread acclaim on platforms such as Rotten Tomatoes.
