Road House 2 Finds Beloved Action Director for Jake Gyllenhaal Movie

Amazon Studios, under MGM, has announced a new director for their upcoming film “Road House 2”. It’s also confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal, an Academy Award nominee, will be returning to play Dalton in the 2024 remake of Patrick Swayze’s 1989 action movie.

Who will be directing Road House 2?

As a passionate gamer, I’m pumped to share that I, as Guy Ritchie, have jumped on board for Road House 2! This exciting project brings me back together with the talented Jake Gyllenhaal, and I can hardly wait! In the past, I had the pleasure of directing Gyllenhaal in the 2023 action drama film The Covenant. This movie garnered nothing but positive feedback from both critics and fans alike. Now, I’m stepping up to fill the shoes left by Doug Liman, who was unlikely to return due to his public criticisms of Amazon MGM Studios over their decision to release the original film through streaming instead of a full theatrical run. It’s going to be an incredible ride!

Right now, Ritchie is busy getting ready for the launch of his latest action-adventure film, Fountain of Youth, featuring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. Additionally, he’s working on two directorial projects: a suspenseful movie titled Wife and Dog with Rosamund Pike, and an action-packed drama called In the Grey with Henry Cavill. Both movies are currently in post-production phase.

In a new take on the classic film, Road House, Liman served as director using a script penned by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. This reboot garnered a Tomatometer score of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes from 205 reviews. The original cast included UFC star Conor McGregor, rising talent Daniela Melchior (from “The Suicide Squad”), Billy Magnussen (“Game Night”), Gbemisola Ikumelo (“The Last Tree”), Lukas Gage (“The White Lotus”), Hannah Love Lanier (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”), Travis Van Winkle (“Accepted”), B.K. Cannon (“Switched at Birth”), Arturo Castro (“Broad City”), Dominique Columbus (“Ray Donovan”), Beau Knapp (“Southpaw”), and Bob Menery.
