As an ardent fan of Kannada cinema, I am absolutely thrilled by the news that Rishab Shetty is back with “Kantara: Chapter 1.” Having already tasted success with the first installment, it’s fascinating to see how he plans to delve deeper into the intriguing lore surrounding the Panjurli Daiva. The fact that Rishab has been undergoing rigorous training in horse riding and Kalaripayattu for over a year now, only adds to my excitement.
Right now, Rishab Shetty is filming his eagerly awaited movie titled Kantara: Chapter 1. This new project functions as a prequel to the 2022 release “Kantara.” The production team has commenced their third phase of shooting, which is anticipated to span over 60 days.
Reports indicate that Rishab Shetty’s film is halfway through its shooting process, with the remaining scenes being filmed currently. Additionally, it’s been shared that Rishab is undergoing rigorous training in horseback riding and the ancient martial art known as Kalaripayattu for this production.
According to reports, the actor has been perfecting his martial arts abilities for a year. It’s been hinted that Kantara: Chapter 1 will heavily incorporate ancient martial arts within the film. Additionally, the production timeline includes song sequences and distinctive scenes tailored specifically to the storyline.
The upcoming movie, expected to hit theaters in 2025, serves as a prequel to the folk tale we encountered in Kantara. Unlike the initial part that revolved around Shiva and the legends associated with Panjurli Daiva, this prequel delves deeper into its origins, particularly during the rule of the Kadambas of Banavasi. A sneak peek of the film was unveiled on November 27, 2024, showcasing a powerful performance by the actor.
It’s noteworthy that Rishab Shetty has garnered attention lately, having been confirmed as the main character in Prasanth Varma’s upcoming film sequel titled Jai Hanuman. In this new project, he will portray Lord Hanuman from Hindu mythology. The creators even revealed a unique sneak peek showcasing Rishab Shetty in his freshly adopted persona.
The upcoming film serves as a sequel to the movie starring Teja Sajja titled HanuMan and falls within the creative realm of director Prasanth Varma’s Cinematic Universe (PVCU). Notably, two other films – Maha Kali and Adhira – have also been revealed in this cinematic universe.
