Their decision to prioritize quality over a specific release date is a testament to their commitment to creating an exceptional gaming experience for us players.
Brace Yourself Games had aimed to launch their long-awaited sequel to Crypt of the NecroDancer in 2024, but it appears that won’t be the case. Luckily, PC gamers won’t have to wait too long longer for Rift of the NecroDancer, as Brace Yourself Games has announced a release date in February, which is fast approaching.

As a game developer at Brace Yourself Games, I understand that to meet a 2024 launch date, we’d have had to really push things hard to polish and squash bugs. However, we prefer to maintain a balanced rhythm instead of burning out. We’re dedicated to creating exceptional games without compromising the well-being of our team.
To ensure that Rift of the NecroDancer is fully baked and not rushed, we have opted to delay its launch until 2024. This way, we can avoid releasing an incomplete product under pressure. So, we’re taking a moment to gather ourselves, slow down, and let the project cook a bit longer before serving it up.
To create a bit more breathing space for us, we’ve decided to separate the release on Steam from other platforms. Essentially, we will initially debut on Steam, with plans to roll out on consoles at a subsequent time.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that Brace Yourself Games team has given us a sneak peek into what they’re working on to soften the blow of the delay in Rift of NecroDancer’s release. They mentioned some improvements based on feedback from the demo, as well as exciting additions like an Impossible difficulty level, Remix Mode, and tools that allow users to create custom maps using their own music uploads!
After a significant gap, we’re nearing the release of Rift of the NecroDancer. It was initially teased along with the Synchrony DLC for Crypt of the NecroDancer back in August 2022. The day has almost come! Rift of the NecroDancer is set to launch on PC on February 5, Wednesday. Console versions will follow later in the year.
