As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the cinematic universes crafted by these legendary filmmakers, I can’t help but marvel at the unyielding spirit of Ridley Scott and Quentin Tarantino. While some may be content to rest on their laurels, these two are still pushing boundaries and redefining storytelling.
Even at the age of 86, Ridley Scott remains unyielding to the usual pace with his tireless work ethic. He is on the brink of releasing Gladiator II, the long-awaited sequel to his Academy Award-winning masterpiece Gladiator. The legendary director shows no signs of slowing down and has no intentions of retiring for now. However, he did address the buzz surrounding Quentin Tarantino’s claim that his upcoming film might be his last one.
What did Ridley Scott say about Quentin Tarantino and retirement?
During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, questions were raised about Quentin Tarantino’s retirement plans and director Scott expressed his doubts that Tarantino would retire after completing his next film. When the reporter brought up the idea that great people often find themselves drawn back into their passions following periods of rest, Scott concurred and offered a sincere prediction for Tarantino.
Scott expressed his disbelief, saying, ‘That’s just nonsense!’ He then suggested, ‘Perhaps it’s time you worked on another film.’ Quentin has shared some ideas with my sibling. They seemed to get along quite well. I’m not certain if we’ve actually met each other.’
When it comes to Scott, he feels there are several more movies left in him. He uses Clint Eastwood as an example, stating that even at advanced age, one can continue working – Eastwood is currently 92 and has recently released “Juror #2.
In 2024, Scott’s upcoming film is titled Gladiator II, a highly anticipated movie. This sequel features Paul Mescal portraying Lucius, the son of Lucilla and once-heir to the Roman Empire who had spent 15 years in Numbia. He is then captured by the Roman army, turning him into a slave. As a gladiator, he honed his skills and plotted his vengeance against Rome within the arena.
Besides Mescal, the cast of Gladiator II includes Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington.
Gladiator II opens in theaters on November 22, 2024.
