As a seasoned gamer with years of immersion in post-apocalyptic worlds, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation upon hearing about Ridley Scott’s next movie, “The Dog Stars.” The idea of watching Paul Mescal navigate through a desolate landscape, fighting for survival while bonding with his canine companion, strikes a chord deep within my gaming heart.
Paul Mescal has been cast in Ridley Scott’s next movie, The Dog Stars.
In the upcoming months, you’ll find actor Mescal portraying Lucius Verus in Scott’s “Gladiator II”, set to hit US cinemas on November 22, 2024. This new film serves as a follow-up to the 2000 release, “Gladiator”.
According to the latest updates, I’m excited to share that I’ll be teaming up once more with Scott and Mescal for another film project, titled “The Dog Stars”. This upcoming movie is an on-screen interpretation of the 2012 novel penned by Peter Heller. Can’t wait to dive into this new adventure!
What do we know about The Dog Stars?
Originally, it was thought that Scott’s upcoming project would be a Bee Gees biopic for Paramount, but Deadline reports otherwise. Instead, it seems I’ve stumbled upon a perfect fit for my schedule to work with Scott again, which is why we’re set to collaborate next. Post-production on our film, I’ll be stepping onto the Broadway stage to portray Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire.
20th Century Studios’ upcoming movie is projected to start filming in the following spring season, and it’s anticipated that Scott will move on to the Bee Gees movie production around fall 2025.
The story takes place in a not-too-distant future following a mysterious pandemic that has severely affected American society. In an abandoned Colorado airbase, a civilian pilot leads a solitary existence with his faithful dog and a former marine, who was once part of the U.S. Marines. Despite their differences, they rely on each other for survival against roving attackers. A glimmer of hope emerges when a cryptic message comes through their radio, broadcast from an unknown source. This mysterious transmission, transmitted via his 1956 Cessna’s radio, kindles a deep-seated belief in the pilot that a better life may be possible beyond their fortified boundaries. Driven by this hope and disregarding the danger, he embarks on a perilous journey, following the static-laden trail of the transmission.
As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the storyline for “The Dog Stars” is being crafted by the talented Mark L. Smith, renowned for his work on “The Revenant” and “Twisters”. Excitingly, Smith himself will be producing this movie in collaboration with Cliff Roberts and Scott Free.
A release date for The Dog Stars has not yet been announced by 20th Century Studios.
