As a longtime viewer of The Bold and the Beautiful, I must say I was taken aback by Ridge Forrester’s audacious move during Friday’s episode. The man is a seasoned businessman, a family patriarch, and a lover of drama – all traits that have kept me hooked for years.
Spoilers ahead for Friday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful as well as the preview for next week’s episodes.
On the November 27th episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful”, Ridge Forrester fiercely confronted Carter Walton. This was not unwarranted, as Ridge’s COO is attempting to seize his family company, causing hurt feelings and a questionable romance with Hope Logan. Ridge believes that Hope is manipulating Carter and that she’s the one instigating the betrayal. In an unexpected move, Ridge extended an olive branch to Carter, providing him with an opportunity to step away from the situation.
Since Carter is more like a friend and family, and Ridge even feels like he loves him as a brother, he suggested they could get past this significant betrayal. However, there would need to be new agreements made to correct the wrongs Carter had committed. Ridge was ready to let it go and allow him to keep his job, but under one condition: Carter must end things with Hope. The episode concluded without Carter responding, but the sneak peek suggested that his response won’t align with Ridge’s wishes.
Next week on “The Bold and the Beautiful” starting Dec. 2, we find Hope informing her mother Brooke Logan that Carter has submitted the documents. If she’s not feigning or out of sync with her partner, this implies that Carter was motivated by Ridge’s demand to carry out his coup. It appears that being asked to end his brief relationship with Hope was more than he could bear, as he’d been wrestling with the decision.
Is it clear if signing those documents will truly give Carter control over Forrester Creations? Ridge seemed unconcerned when talking about the papers he signed with the COO, yet he understands the gravity of Carter’s actions, which is why he brought in Justin Barber for legal advice. The preview didn’t make it appear that Justin could handle the situation as well as Ridge, Steffy, and Eric anticipated, but perhaps this was just to mislead us; we’ll need to see how the scene unfolds to know for sure.
In the interim, it seems Carter has become deeply involved with Hope, potentially jeopardizing his career in a dramatic fall. Ridge noted that she has him under her control, and this is evident because Carter appears to be acting irrationally. The duo have grand designs for Forrester Creations, but it’s unclear how they will establish the ideal working environment when their actions will be seen as pushing the Forresters out of their own fashion empire.
This decision indicates that the company will no longer have a leader in high-end fashion design. Additionally, all of their prominent designers are from the Forrester family. Given this, it seems unlikely that they won’t band together, especially since their reputation is built on the legacy of Eric, the family matriarch. Carter and Hope may be choosing the wrong battle, and if they persist with their plans, they might end up with a fashion house but without any senior staff members who possess the influence and expertise necessary for its success.
