As a long-time wrestling enthusiast who has seen it all, from the Attitude Era to the New Generation, I must say that the latest turn of events in AEW Dynamite with Ricochet and The Hurt Syndicate is nothing short of intriguing. It’s like watching a modern-day soap opera, complete with backstabbing, power plays, and a hint of unrequited camaraderie.
In the most recent installment of AEW Dynamite, the ex-WWE athlete Ricochet engaged in a match against The Hurt Syndicate. During this festive Holiday Bash broadcast, announcer Tony Schiavone presented Ricochet to the ring.
At this weekend’s Christmas Collision event, it’s Ricochet who will battle against Will Ospreay in the Continental Classic tournament. While discussing his journey in the tournament on AEW Dynamite, Ricochet was interrupted by The Hurt Syndicate, a group made up of MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin.
A few months ago, in October, just before Bobby Lashley hopped aboard The Hurt Syndicate, I had an intriguing run-in with MVP and Shelton Benjamin. MVP extended an invitation to me, offering his business card, but I politely declined, choosing instead to stay on my own journey. However, I kept that card close, suggesting a potential future partnership with the faction may be in the works.
Moving on to AEW Dynamite, we find Ricochet squaring off against The Hurt Syndicate. He complimented their look and asked if they’d caught any of his recent bouts. Ricochet then promised the group that they would see a new aspect of him when he battles Will Ospreay next.
Later on, MVP requested to inspect Ricochet’s business card, but as he handed it over, Bobby Lashley seized MVP by the neck instead. In anger, MVP destroyed the card, stating that the agreement was now void since no one appreciates a “kiss-up.” Lashley subsequently let go of Ricochet, who departed the ring and made his way backstage.
“Nobody likes a kiss ass.”
The Hurt Syndicate have rescinded their offer for Ricochet to join them.

Later in a chat with Renee Paquette backstage, Ricochet was questioned regarding the altercation with The Hurt Syndicate, yet he opted not to comment. Instead, he discussed his upcoming bout against Will Ospreay. Post this peculiar exchange, spectators voiced their criticism of his response, but he has since clarified, defending The Hurt Syndicate.
Ricochet defends The Hurt Syndicate Snub: ‘They like me’
Following the unexpected response Ricochet experienced from The Hurt Syndicate on AEW Dynamite, the ex-WWE Superstar explained and justified their actions. He utilized X (previously known as Twitter) to clear up any confusion, asserting that fans might have misunderstood the scenario, suggesting that The Hurt Syndicate was merely concerned for his wellbeing.
I guess you might be misunderstanding the situation. Those folks aren’t thugs who attacked me; they’re my friends, showing concern. After all, they seem to appreciate me.
