Previously known as Ricky Starks from All Elite Wrestling (AEW), he left a lasting impression on WWE NXT fans during his debut. The excitement surrounding him had been building for several days prior to his surprising entrance.

Following an almost eleven-month break from AEW TV broadcasts, Starks last stepped into the ring on the March 30th episode of AEW Collision, where he and Big Bill were defeated by Top Flight. However, during his time off the screen, he kept busy by attending numerous independent wrestling shows.

This past week, it was made official that AEW had let go of Ricky Starks, Miro, and Malakai Black without including a 90-day non-compete agreement in their releases. During the build-up to the main attraction, a Steel Cage Match for the NXT North American Championship featuring Tony D’Angelo and Ridge Holland, an unexpected surprise unfolded.
