Penta Zero Fear, also known as Penta El Zero Miedo, recently appeared for the first time on the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, which is available on Netflix. His appearance has sparked discussions about the future of his former AEW tag team partner, Rey Fenix. Rumors have been circulating for months that The Lucha Brothers (consisting of Rey Fenix and Penta Zero Fear) would be joining WWE once their contracts with AEW were up.
Despite being injured, AEW renewed Rey Fenix’s contract up until 2025. On the other hand, Penta El Zero Miedo ended his contract with AEW when it expired in December, leading to speculation about Fenix’s future with the promotion.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my thoughts on the recent turn of events involving Rey Fenix. Despite not making many TV appearances lately, his AEW contract was extended, which led to a passionate tweet from him. In this message, he openly expressed his discontent with how the promotion has been handling him and used the word “inhuman” to describe it. This unexpected outburst might delay his potential team-up with Penta in WWE for now.
In light of the ongoing debate, it’s plausible that Tony Khan might be reluctant to terminate his contract due to WWE scheduling a Saturday Night’s Main Event event coinciding with AEW All In Texas on July 12, potentially creating a conflict for the talent involved.
How WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event could affect Fenix’s AEW status
On his Wrestling Observer Radio podcast, wrestling commentator Dave Meltzer hypothesized that due to the duration of his absence resulting from an injury, Rey Fenix’s contract might be prolonged for approximately ten months.
In the context of discussing whether Tony Khan might let Rey Fenix leave AEW, he admitted it’s a possibility. But he’s not anticipating it, particularly given the upcoming All In Texas event coincides with WWE’s show. He explained, “I don’t expect it, not during this wrestling conflict, not when they recently scheduled that event for July 12. I wouldn’t count on AEW extending any favors to WWE this week, to put it bluntly.”
Amidst the ongoing debate, it’s troubling to note that Fenix’s merchandise has been removed from the official AEW online store. Interestingly, he remains listed on the roster page, suggesting there might be some behind-the-scenes developments.
