The upcoming movie “Retro,” starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is set to be one of the most anticipated films in 2025. With its premiere scheduled for May 1, excitement about the film has reached a fever pitch. However, an interesting piece of news emerged: Director Karthik Subbaraj recently disclosed that the movie’s screenplay was initially written with Superstar Rajinikanth in mind.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share a clarification: Karthik Subbaraj himself made it clear that the script for Retro was never intended for Thalapathy Vijay, contrary to some rumors. Instead, he penned the story with Rajinikanth in mind from the start. The early drafts of the script were heavily influenced by the action genre, a perfect fit for Rajinikanth’s legendary persona.

After sharing the story with Suriya, it transformed into a romantic drama. Remarkably, Suriik even inquired from Karthik if he’d initially proposed the script to Rajinikanth.

As a lifestyle expert, let me share my perspective: “Contrary to rumors, this narrative wasn’t crafted exclusively for Thalapathy Vijay, but rather with Thalaivar in mind from the outset. Initially, it was tailored towards action genres, aligning with Thalaivar’s on-screen persona. However, upon sharing it with Suriya, the plot evolved into a romantic tale. Under the guidance of director Karthik Subbaraj, this romantic action movie was initially known as Suriya 44. The motion picture boasts an impressive lineup of actors including Suriya, Pooja Hegde, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Joju George, Jayaram, Sujith Shankar, and Singampuli in significant roles. Shriya Saran briefly appears in the film as a cameo.

On the professional side of things, Rajinikanth’s upcoming project is the film “Coolie,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. This movie will star Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir in significant roles. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is actively engaged in filming for “Jailer 2” alongside Nelson Dilipkumar and other cast members.
