Respawn Entertainment announces layoffs and the cancellation of two games

It’s been announced that Respawn Entertainment, known for creating the Titanfall series and Apex Legends, has become the latest significant gaming company to initiate job cuts. The studio is reducing its workforce by an undisclosed number of employees as they concentrate on shaping the future of Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi series.

In a recent update on platform X, Respawn Studios announced layoffs and revealed that they have terminated the development of two unannounced games which were in their initial stages, often called “in-development projects” or “incubation projects.” The studio stated that it will assist the affected employees in securing employment within Electronic Arts.

Moving ahead, it’s apparent that Respawn is dedicating their efforts to two major projects: Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi franchise. There’s a significant expansion on the horizon for Apex Legends, while the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi game series is under active development.

In collaboration with Bit Reactor, Respawn is developing a turn-based strategy game titled Star Wars Zero Company, which is scheduled for release within the Star Wars universe.
