Renukaswamy case: Days after his bail, Bengaluru court permits Darshan Thoogudeepa to travel to his native place in Mysuru

As a dedicated follower of Kannada cinema and a sympathizer for those who have faced adversity, I can’t help but feel a sense of empathy towards Darshan Thoogudeepa, the beloved actor who has recently been granted permission to travel to his native Mysuru. His life story is one that resonates deeply with me, as someone who appreciates the struggles and triumphs that come with being in the public eye.

Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa from Karnataka received bail on December 13 for the murder case involving Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan. However, strict conditions were set, particularly concerning his movements and travel during the ongoing investigation. Now, a court in Bengaluru has granted him permission to move freely again.

In essence, the actor’s legal representative submitted a request to the Bengaluru court, asking for approval to journey to Mysuru, his hometown, and reside there from December 20, 2024, until January 5, 2025.

According to the memo, the actor intends to travel home because he wishes to see his cancer-surviving mother and additionally seeks a second medical opinion for his back pain at Apollo Hospitals.

Darshan’s memo stated, “During this period, he plans to reside with his 76-year-old mother, who is a cancer survivor. He also intends to stay at his farmhouse and seek additional medical advice regarding his back pain at Apollo Hospital.

Moreover, he would also be paying a visit to the land he owns, which has sheltered many animals.

The court in Bengaluru has announced a new court date for the ongoing case, set for January 10, 2025. Until then, Darshan is not required to attend court proceedings.

Furthermore, the court deemed Darshan’s requests in his memorandum as reasonable, granting him permission to visit Mysuru and reside there for the specified duration.

According to the court order, Darshan’s application (filed under section 439(1)(b)/memo) has been granted partially. This means Accused No. 2 is authorized to travel to Mysuru and reside there from December 20, 2024, until January 5, 2025.

For those unfamiliar, Darshan Thoogudeepa, a Kannada actor, was detained on June 11 for his involvement in the murder case of Renukaswamy. Recently, he had been granted bail due to medical reasons and was subsequently released from Bellary jail on October 30.
