Renuka Swamy Case: No home-cooked food, bed, or clothing for Darshan Thoogudeepa; court rejects plea

Renuka Swamy Case: No home-cooked food, bed, or clothing for Darshan Thoogudeepa; court rejects plea

As a lifestyle expert with a background in nutrition and wellness, I firmly believe that every individual deserves proper care and attention, especially when they are going through challenging times, such as being in judicial custody. Darshan Thoogudeepa‘s petition for home-cooked meals and a proper bed is an issue close to my heart since his health and wellbeing are at stake.

Recently, Darshan Thoogudeepa, who finds himself in judicial custody due to allegations surrounding the Renuka Swamy murder case, made an appeal for some comforts of home during his stay. He requested the court for permission to have homemade meals and a suitable bed. Regrettably, this application was denied by the Bengaluru court.

Court rejects Darshan’s plea for home-cooked food

On July 25, a Bengaluru court dismissed the request made by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa for specialized meals, personal clothing, and bedding in prison. The judge, Vishwanath C Gowdar, who is the 24th Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, ruled against the application.

According to Darshan’s lawyer’s points, the actor’s food supply doesn’t seem enough to keep his physique and muscular body in shape. Additionally, the application stated that Darshan experienced frequent bouts of diarrhea or indigestion due to the food.

On the contrary, SPP P Prasanna Kumar argued that the sandalwood actor’s influence or status as a cinema personality should not result in preferential treatment for him in this case.

Based on my experience working in the criminal justice system and having reviewed numerous medical reports as part of legal cases, I can tell you that the court’s consideration of Darshan’s case was not unusual. The report indicated that Darshan was experiencing general weakness, and the chief medical officer in prison suggested rest and nutritious food for his recovery. However, it’s important to note that no special or medical diet was recommended by the medical officer. This means that while Darshan’s health condition required some attention, it did not necessitate any specific dietary modifications beyond what is typically provided in a prison setting. From my perspective, this is a common occurrence and should not be cause for undue concern.

In the meantime, according to a TOI report, Darshan’s health is reportedly declining in prison. A man named Siddharoodha, who was once cellmates with Thoogudeepa, stated that the actor has been shedding weight and his complexion has grown noticeably pale.

Additionally, Siddharoodha mentioned that Darshan frequently reads books while in prison, possessing around 15 to 20 titles in his collection, some of which are religious texts.

Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda’s case

On June 11, Pavithra Gowda and Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa were taken into custody by the Bengaluru police. Their detainment stemmed from an investigation into the death of Renuka Swamy.

According to reports, Darshan is said to have provoked the murder following offensive messages from the victim to Gowda. He also blamed her for Darshan’s marital issues.

Darshan and Pavithra had major issues with this situation. Sadly, the person involved later died, leaving behind evidence of extreme cruelty.
