Renuka Swamy case: Karnataka HC prohibits media houses from disclosing 'confidential' information in chargesheet against Darshan

As a die-hard fan of Darshan Thoogudeepa, I must say, this turn of events has left me utterly bewildered and disheartened. From the action-packed, larger-than-life roles he portrayed on the silver screen to this shocking real-life drama, it’s a tale that seems too unbelievable to be true.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but be deeply engrossed in the unfolding drama surrounding Darshan Thoogudeepa, my beloved Kannada actor. The spotlight on him has been unwavering since June, not due to his acting prowess, but because of the tragic allegations against him regarding a murder. It’s hard to believe that the Sandalwood star, along with his rumored partner Pavithra Gowda, stands accused of taking the life of Renuka Swamy. In the most recent twist, the Karnataka High Court has issued an interim order, restricting media outlets from broadcasting any content pertaining to the charge sheet in the Renuka Swamy case. The suspense is palpable as we eagerly await the next chapter in this heart-wrenching tale.

On September 10, the interim order was issued by Justice Hemant Chandangoudar, which came after a petition was filed by Darshan Thoogudeepa Srinivas, who is the second accused party.

The court ordered media organizations numbered 3 through 40 not to release, broadcast, or share confidential information from crime report No 0250/2024 held by Kamakshipalya Police Station, until the next court hearing date. The court also cautioned that penalties would be imposed if they disregarded this order.

In other news, Darshan, Pavithra, and those charged in the Renuka Swamy case found no respite as a court in Bengaluru prolonged their judicial detention for an additional three days on Monday. Their judicial custody, initially set to conclude on September 9, has now been pushed back to September 12.

It’s important to note that since June 11, Kannada actors have been in jail. According to various sources, the victim, Renuka Swamy, was a fan of Darshan. However, their relationship turned sour when Darshan made disrespectful remarks about Pavithra Gowda. He also accused her of causing problems in his marriage, which ultimately led to the death of Renuka Swamy by Darshan, who is known for his roles in Thangigagi films.

Renuka Swamy’s autopsy results showed evidence of severe abuse. His body bore numerous injuries, one of his ears was missing, and he had traumatic damage to his testicles. The police investigation points towards Darshan as the perpetrator of the physical violence inflicted on the victim.
