Renuka Swamy case: Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda's bail plea adjourned; court drops murder charges against three accused

As a lifestyle expert who has witnessed numerous high-profile cases unfold over the years, I find myself both intrigued and saddened by this latest development in the Renuka Swamy murder case. It is indeed peculiar to see the accused being granted bail while the main suspect, Darshan Thoogudeepa, continues to languish behind bars.

In a recent update concerning the Renuka Swamy murder case, three suspects have been temporarily released on bail under certain conditions. Moreover, the charges of murder against them have been dismissed. Specifically, Justice Vishwajith Shetty of the Karnataka High Court granted bail to accused Keshav Murthy (A16), whereas the Sessions Court freed Nikhil Naik (A17) and Karthik (accused number – A 15). This information was shared by The Indian Express.

It’s important to note that, at first, Keshav admitted to the police that he was responsible for the murder, stating this was supposedly under the orders of actor Darshan. However, later on, the police chose not to include murder charges against him when filing their official report.

In the meantime, the Magistrate Court postponed the bail hearing for actor Darshan Thoogudeepa until September 27, following his submission of a bail application after spending 100 days in custody. Additionally, the court rescheduled the bail hearing for Pavithra Gowda, who is allegedly linked to Darshan and is an actress, to September 25.

It’s important to note that Darshan Thoogudeepa is presently detained at Bellary Jail. Following a controversial video and image surfacing online, suggesting special treatment inside the prison for him as a murder suspect, he was transferred from the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. In contrast, Pavithra Gowda remains in judicial custody within the confines of Parappana prison.

For those who may not be familiar, Darshan Thoogudeepa has recently gained attention after his arrest on June 11, related to the violent killing of a 33-year-old pharmacist named Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga. It is said that the victim made disrespectful remarks towards Gowda, which may have played a role in this case.

It’s reported that he was suspected of being involved with another woman in Darshan’s life, causing issues within his marriage. In retaliation, it’s said that Darshan and Pavithra devised a plan to exact revenge on him. Subsequently, allegations arose that Darshan killed Renuka Swamy in his garage using various weapons. His remains were later discovered dumped in a storm drain.
