Renowned Tamil filmmaker Suresh Sangaiah passes away in Chennai due to liver failure

Oh, the heart-wrenching news that has swept through the Tamil film industry like a storm! The loss of Suresh Sangaiah, a director whose work touched countless hearts and brought joy to our lives, is indeed an unbearable blow.

Sadly, Tamil film director Suresh Sangaiah has passed away on the night of November 15, 2024. He sadly took his last breath at approximately 11 PM while being treated at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Chennai. Known for his acclaimed movie “Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu,” starring actors Vidharth and Raveena Ravi, Sangaiah will be deeply missed by the film community.

Halitha Shameem, a fellow Tamil director, initially announced Suresh Sangaiah’s passing on social media.

Via a post on X (previously Twitter), she expressed her grief by saying, “I was stunned and deeply saddened to learn of Suresh Sangaiah’s demise. The movie #OruKidayinKarunaiManu has always been dear to me, and now it holds a more profound meaning.

Ever since I’ve learned about it from Money Control, I’ve been deeply concerned about the health struggles that Suresh has been facing. Seems like his body has been battling liver failure due to a long stretch of jaundice. He’s been bravely fighting this condition for quite some time now, undergoing treatment to help him get better.

Suresh is survived by his wife and two children.

Speaking about the latter stages of the movie director’s professional journey, it started when he initially worked under M. Manikandan as an assistant director. Subsequently, he contributed to the production of the movie “Kaaka Muttai,” which debuted in the year 2015.

In 2017, Suresh proved himself as an independent and self-reliant film director with the release of the Tamil comedy-drama Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu. Following this success, he went on to direct another movie called Sathiya Sothanai, featuring actor Premgi Amaren.

Lately, Suresh Sangaiah joined forces with Yogi Babu on a movie produced by Hotstar Specials. This as-yet-unnamed production seems to focus on the story of a villager dealing with societal hurdles, offering an unusual narrative about kindness.

The film will likely be released posthumously. It is produced by SR Ramesh Babu and Jegan Baskaran.

We wish strength to the grieving family.
