It’s that time again when we’re wrapping up the current year, and that means preparing for cancellations and renewals among our beloved television series. Which popular broadcast TV shows do you think will continue into the next TV season?

2024 Fall season seems to be our most ordinary autumn since the pandemic in 2020. TV series commenced as usual in September, and we’ve experienced typical fall finales with preparations for January comebacks. Broadcast networks have presented a blend of reality and scripted programs.

In this article, we’ll examine the scheduled programs with scripts. Unlike the non-scripted shows, which have unique demands due to their lower production costs, the scripted lineup primarily concentrates on linear viewership, particularly for high-profile casts.

We’re only looking at the Big 5 broadcast networks. Here’s the statements we’ll make:

Definitely not coming back: For series that won’t have a next season

With CW series, it’s trickier to exert control since a large portion of them are acquired from different countries. As a result, the CW has limited influence over these shows, and often, it depends on whether they will be re-licensed in the future. However, we can certainly make an effort!

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: When it comes to predicting which shows stay on air, linear ratings play a pivotal role – they’re the primary factor. While networks do consider other aspects too, these ratings are crucial because they decide whether advertisers continue investing in time slots or not. If streaming results are impressive for certain shows, they might get an exception, but it’s unusual.

We’re not implying that we believe the shows aren’t any good. In fact, there are several impressive shows this year that could potentially make it into the final cut.
