Regé-Jean Page (from Bridgerton) and Halle Bailey (from The Little Mermaid) have been confirmed to play the main roles in an upcoming Universal Pictures film titled “Italianna,” which is shrouded in secrecy regarding its plot and characters. However, it’s expected to be a romantic comedy.
Who else is involved in Italianna?
In a new development, Italianna is set to be helmed by director Kat Coiro (known for She-Hulk and Matlock), who previously teamed up with Universal Pictures on the Jennifer Lopez-starring romantic comedy Marry Me released in 2022. The script for this film has been penned by Ryan Engle, inspired by an original concept conceived by Ryan Engle and Kristin Engle. Will Packer Productions are responsible for its production as part of their agreement with Universal Pictures, with Will Packer and Johanna Byer serving as producers. Erik Baiers and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project on behalf of Universal, while Alvie Hurtado will do so for Will Packer Productions.

Speaking from personal experience, I, Bailey, have just embarked on a new movie venture, marking my return to the silver screen after an approximately two-year hiatus that followed my back-to-back roles in 2023’s The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple. Aside from my acting career, I’m also recognized for playing Sky Forster on ABC’s hit spin-off series, Grown-ish.
