As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt and a soft spot for roguelikes, I’m absolutely thrilled about [Redacted]! The combination of Striking Distance’s narrative prowess and Krafton’s gaming expertise has me on the edge of my seat.
At Gamescom, Striking Distance and Krafton presented a sneak peek at their latest project, which is being developed by Callisto. Officially referred to as [Redacted], this top-down action game is set within the universe of Callisto, where players must battle through the aftermath of mutated experiments and disasters in the Black Iron Prison. The game will incorporate classic roguelike elements such as death leading to progress, along with a variety of equipment, weapons, suits, and other items to aid survivors facing impending horrors.
At Gamescom 2024, Striking Distance and Krafton officially revealed [Redacted], offering us our initial glimpse of the game through an updated trailer. In this upcoming title, players assume the character of a security officer at Black Iron, struggling to escape from the deteriorating facility by boarding the final evacuation pod. Although [Redacted] is indeed set within the Callisto Protocol universe, it appears noticeably distinct from its predecessor. Striking Distance has opted for a cel-shaded graphic style that lends the game a slightly exaggerated, cartoonish appearance compared to the previous sci-fi horror setting.
The game [Redacted] will feature elements typical of the roguelike genre. Players will encounter not only monstrous mutations, but also other characters in the game who are similarly trying to reach the pod, such as a security guard. Death doesn’t mean game over; instead, players get a second chance with enhanced equipment, weapons, and survival tools. However, be mindful of your previous location, as the corpse you leave behind could transform into a mutated creature that will attack you immediately upon sight.
Previously ridiculed, this title is set to debut on Halloween, October 31st, across platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers. Keep an eye out for further updates about the game here at Shacknews.
