As a devoted fan of Red Swan, I was absolutely thrilled to witness episode 8 unfold this week. The tension between Oh Wan-Soo and Seo Do-Yoon, both personally and professionally, reached new heights with the public revelation of their supposed affair. The emotional rollercoaster that the viewers were taken on, from their heartfelt confession of love to the life-threatening confrontations, kept me on the edge of my seat.

The eighth episode of the widely watched K-drama “Red Swan” was broadcasted on Disney Plus at 4 p.m. KST on July 24, 2024. The series focuses on Oh Wan-Soo (played by Kim Ha-Neul) and Seo Do-Yoon (portrayed by Rain), who team up to uncover the hidden truths of Hwain Group. Wan-Soo manages the NOW Foundation and encounters Do-Yoon after he protects her from an assault. Their bond strengthens as they dig deeper into the corporation’s dealings.

In Episode 8 of Red Swan, I found myself right in the thick of things with Oh Wan-Soo and Seo Do-Yoon as they bravely faced off against Hwain Group and its powerful members. We were up against Chairman Park Mi-Ran and fund manager Han Sang-Il, but rumors of an affair between us only added to the challenges we had to overcome. Amidst all this chaos, Do-Yoon and I came to realize our deep feelings for each other. And just when we thought things were finally settling down, a bombshell dropped: late Chairman Kim Duo’s will named me as his successor, leaving me in charge! What a wild ride!

In this week’s episode 8 of Red Swan, the action continued from the last installment with K1 assaulting both Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon upon Sang-Il’s command. After finding an unconscious Wan-Soo, Determined Do-Yoon stepped in to protect her and successfully fended off K1.

Oh Wan-Soo & Seo Do-Yoon share an intimate moment

In the aftermath of clashing with K1, Do-Yoon saved Wan-Soo and together they sailed a boat to the heart of the sea. The sun rose the next day, finding Wan-Soo tending to Do-Yoon who requested she fulfill his pledge to shield her. Sharing an affectionate moment, they exchanged their heartfelt feelings through a kiss. Simultaneously, Wan-Soo’s husband and head of Hwain Group, Kim Yong-Guk, arrived in search of her.

While Wan-Soo was soundly asleep, Yong-Guk paid her a visit. Deep down, he harbored suspicions towards Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon, entertaining thoughts of an affair between the two. Following their photo session, Wan-Soo probed Yong-Guk with inquiries. She wanted to know more about the rumor that Kim Yong-Min was his half-brother, as well as the allegations suggesting that both his father and later Chairman Kim Duo may have been victims of murder.

Han Sang-Il proceeds with his plan, Yong-Guk confronts his mother

At the Grand Palace, Chairwoman Park Mi-Ran became enraged after discovering a shaman had swindled her out of millions. Once this information was revealed to the public, Hang Sang-Il suggested she release photos of Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon, along with a statement acknowledging their affair. After careful consideration, Mi-Ran chose to follow his advice. Seeing Wan-Soo in good health again, Sang-Il scolded K1 for her negligence. He instructed her to get ready for another assault.

In no time, the photographs became public knowledge, giving off the impression that Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon had been romantically involved. Later on, Kim Yong-Guk discovered that his mother had allegedly carried on an affair with Hang Sang-Il when he was a young boy, and to his disbelief, she appeared unfazed by the revelation.

As Jang Tae-Ra became deeply moved by their exchange, she took her son Jun-Hee and departed from home. At night, Yong-Guk pondered over his declaration of love to Wan-Soo and the increasing rift between them. Despite encountering Wan-Soo’s mother after her demise, it was too late for reconciliation. Wan-Soo conveyed that their feelings for each other had waned. Overwhelmed by these revelations, Yong-Guk wept.

Seo Do-Yoon tells Oh Hyun-Soo about the ledgers

After being released from prison, Hyun-Soo encountered Hang Sang-Il. In exchange for financial support, Sang-Il proposed a deal to Hyun-Soo. However, he added a new requirement: Hyun-Soo had to retrieve the genuine account books from Do-Yoon, whom Wan-Soo was allegedly close with. Upon speaking with Do-Yoon, however, Hyun-Soo discovered some surprising information. Do-Yoon confessed that Sang-Il intended to seize control of Hwain Group by ousting the Chairwoman.

When I inquired about Do-Yoon’s feelings for Wan-Soo, he replied that their relationship was impossible if they truly loved each other due to her marital status. At nightfall, Do-Yoon stealthily visited Sang-Il’s residence and found the safe open. Yet, he required definitive proof to confirm Yong-Min as Sang-Il’s child.

After fleeing from Sang-Il’s residence, the man discovered Yong-Guk conversing with Sang-Il inside the house. Yong-Guk leveled accusations against Sang-Il for murdering his father and the late Chairman Kim Duo, revealing his intentions to seize control of Hwain Group through these heinous acts. Additionally, Yong-Guk cautioned Sang-Il to keep his distance from Wan-Soo. Despite their past romantic involvement, Yong-Guk emphasized that Sang-Il was merely a servant under Chairwoman Mi-Ran’s authority.

Kim Yong-Guk threatens Seo Do-Yoon

Kim Yong-Guk held Seo Do-Yoon captive. He asked Do-Yoon if the two of them had an affair. Yong-Guk held a gun to his head when the latter revealed that him and Wan-Soo never slept together. He further revealed suspicions about Chairman Kim Duo’s murder. Wan-Soo also arrived in time and confessed her love for Do-Yoon.

Despite Yong-Guk’s rising anger, Wan-Soo asked him to allow Do-Yoon to discover who had murdered Kim Duo. Yong-Guk wept as Wan-Soo showed faith in him and embraced him. The next day, lawyers gathered to settle the estate. Sang-Il requested one of the attorneys to disclose the will’s specifics, but she declined to share further information. Pondering over his talk with the deceased Chairman, Sang-Il recalled how Kim Duo was aware of his relationship with Mi-Ran and their secret son, Yong-Min.

Red Swan episode 8: What happens at the end?

Towards the close of the episode, the contents of Chairman Kim Duo’s will were revealed to the legal team. His unexpected decision involved transferring his estimated KRW 18 trillion in hidden funds to NOW Foundation. The financial resources, previously stored in a Swiss bank, could only be accessed upon Wan-Soo’s visit and request for withdrawal.
