Amazon has formally announced the release date for Red One in 4K and Blu-ray format, disclosing when viewers can acquire the Dwayne Johnson-starring Christmas film to watch at home.
When is the Red One 4K & Blu-ray release date?
The movie “Red One” is scheduled for release on both 4K and Blu-ray formats on March 4, 2025. You can buy this film in physical copies on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, or DVD. At the moment, it’s unknown if the movie will come with any special features beyond the usual basic ones.
Following the abduction of Santa Claus, codenamed RED ONE, the Chief of Security at the North Pole is forced to join forces with the world’s most notorious bounty hunter on a thrilling, globe-trotting adventure to rescue Christmas.
As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive into this exciting new adventure! I’ve heard that the movie was masterminded by Jake Kasdan, who teamed up with Johnson again after our past collaboration on the smashing Jumanji flicks from Sony Pictures. Notably, Chris Morgan of Fast and Furious fame penned the script, building on a concept dreamt up by Hiram Garcia. The stellar cast includes J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus, Lucy Liu as Zoe Harlow, Kiernan Shipka as Gryla, Kristofer Hivju as Krampus, Nick Kroll as Ted, Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Olivia, Wesley Kimmel as Dylan, and others. This project is also the brainchild of Morgan, Melvin Mar, and Sky Salem Robinson, along with Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions. Can’t wait to see what they’ve cooked up!
Regardless of its high-profile actors, the movie failed to hold the interest of both critics and viewers during its cinema release. It managed to rake in a global revenue of more than $160 million, but this was still less than its estimated production cost ranging from $200-$250 million.
Nevertheless, the movie saw tremendous success on Amazon Prime Video, surpassing all others as its most-viewed film since its premiere there last month.
