As someone who has spent countless hours traversing the vast frontier of New Austin and the wild west in Red Dead Redemption, I can hardly contain my excitement for its long-awaited PC release! The original game was a masterpiece, and I’ve always felt it was a shame that those without an Xbox 360 or PS3 missed out on this gem.
Unlike GTA series games, Rockstar didn’t transfer the original Red Dead Redemption to PC at its release. Instead, you needed an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3 to enjoy it. Now, however, we’re getting an updated version of this classic game on PC.
If you haven’t experienced the original Red Dead Redemption, let me tell you, it’s just as captivating as its sequel – and in my opinion, even better.
Red Dead Redemption on PC
On October 29, 2024, the enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption will hit the shelves, featuring the Undead Nightmare DLC as well. This package offers quite an extensive gaming experience, considering that the main game takes approximately 30 hours to finish, while Undead Nightmares adds another 10 hours. The vast open-world invites you to explore and extend your playtime, and Undead Nightmares includes a thrilling horde mode as well.
Remastered features
This isn’t merely a direct transfer; it’s an enhancement, implying you’ll experience Red Dead Redemption with the following improvements tailored for contemporary equipment:
- Native 4K resolution at up to 144hz (on compatible hardware)
- Support for Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9) monitors
- HDR10 support
- Full keyboard and mouse functionality
- NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies
- NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation support
- Adjustable draw distances and shadow quality settings
Note this, Rockstar has earned a less-than-favorable standing due to their past remaster releases not meeting expectations, but the latest news about this one does seem intriguing.
