As a seasoned fan of crime dramas and someone who has seen more than their fair share of unsolved mysteries, I can confidently say that “Rebus” is a breath of fresh air. Unlike other shows that neatly tie up loose ends by the end of the season, this one leaves you hanging – much like a guilty suspect in a dark alley.
For those seeking an engaging crime drama, give “Rebus” a try. Unlike many crime series, it doesn’t conclude the entire story within a single season; instead, it offers an ongoing narrative that unfolds over time.
Indeed, it appears no resolution has been reached yet. One individual is deceased, another is evading capture, while the perpetrator remains at large, seemingly unpunished for their heinous act. The only aspect that seems to have concluded is Rebus’s intense self-disgust.
As a gamer, I’ve been on a season-long quest to find what truly matters – my family. Though I might feel unworthy at times, I’ve managed to reconnect with them, even if it’s not exactly how I had envisioned it. The journey isn’t over yet though; there’s still a long road ahead for us and for those who stand by me.
There are far too many questions for Rebus to end
From the initial season, it’s evident that the writers had a broader strategy in mind. There are many unanswered questions compared to those we already know.
Who was responsible for Lockie’s death? What will Christie plan next? Is the UDA targeting Michael? Will Rebus need to seek aid from Cafferty in the future? The ending of the season seemed to make an already difficult situation even more complicated, which is unusual.
So, it’s clear that we need a second season just to answer all of these questions.
John Rebus needs to continue his character development
Additionally, it’s worth noting that Richard Rankin’s character has recently experienced a surprising turning point in his life, which was unintentional. Now, he finds himself grappling with his aspirations. His history and the present circumstances have left him disillusioned, causing him to question whether good fortune is something he truly deserves.
By the end of the season, there’s reason to be optimistic about him. This isn’t only due to Rhona and Sammy moving in with him; his hope stems from his realization that he is his own biggest obstacle. He’s initiating changes, like ending his affair with his best friend’s wife. He might also learn to behave better towards Lockie, understanding that this man was manipulating Sammy in a way that Rhona and he couldn’t manage alone. People can indeed change, and this series serves as a reminder of that. It simply requires a person determined to change to make it happen.
Rebus is now available to stream on Viaplay.
