This project marks Saulnier’s sixth major directorial venture, following his work on “Murder Party” in 2007 (a horror comedy), “Blue Ruin” in 2013 (a revenge thriller), “Green Room” in 2015 (a horror-thriller), “Hold the Dark” in 2018 (an action-thriller), and “Rebel Ridge” in 2024, which will be released on Netflix.

Actor Cory Michael Smith has been cast as the leading role in the forthcoming A24 film October. This will be his first time headlining a movie, but it’s not his debut with A24; he’s also slated to appear in their upcoming thriller Famous, starring Zac Efron.

October is being billed as a thrilling chase film set around Halloween. Saulnier will pen and direct it, with A24 taking on both production and financing duties.
