Rebecca Gayheart recently discussed the state of her current relationship with Eric Dane, following her decision to withdraw her divorce petition filed in 2018.
On April 9, 2025, Gayheart shared with E! News that we’re not just friends, but very close ones. She also mentioned that we make excellent co-parents. She further explained, ‘We’ve cracked the code on maintaining our family bond, and I believe our children are thriving because of it, and so are we.’
She added, “I believe we shouldn’t view a relationship that ends as a disappointment. Instead, consider it a phase. It wasn’t a failure; it was an achievement. We were married for 15 years, have two lovely children, so I see it as a successful relationship, and that’s our perspective on it.
53-year-old Gayheart and 52-year-old Dane have two daughters named Billie and Georgia together. Back in February 2018, Gayheart initiated a divorce, stating “irreconcilable differences,” and requested joint custody and spousal support. However, the divorce was never finalized, and they recently filed to terminate the divorce petition last month. Dane agreed, and the Los Angeles court has since closed the case.
Although there’s been much talk about them getting back together romantically, neither of them has openly confirmed their current relationship status. Over the past few years, they’ve taken trips to Europe and Mexico with their daughters. In August 2022, Gayheart shared family photos from Paris, tagging the trip as a “family vacation 2022.”
2020 saw me confess to PEOPLE that my one regret was involving the person I cherish most in all that mess: Rebecca. Back in 2018, I had shared with US Weekly that it wasn’t simple, but we were making an effort and staying committed – not easy, but necessary. I found solace in returning to work as a role model for my kids.
More recently, actor Eric Dane revealed that he has been diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. In a conversation with People magazine, he expressed his gratitude for having his supportive family alongside him during this new phase of their lives together.
