Read Deadpool & Wolverine’s Hilarious Mickey Mouse Joke That Disney Axed

As a seasoned gamer and longtime Marvel enthusiast who’s seen more than a few superhero movies to count, I must say that the revelation of the cut Mickey Mouse joke from Deadpool & Wolverine has added a whole new layer of amusement to my already-bursting-at-the-seams appreciation for this franchise.

The humorous exchange between Deadpool and Wolverine, initially intended for the Marvel Studios’ film but requested for removal by Disney, has been unveiled.

During the time leading up to the cinema debut of Deadpool and Wolverine, MCU’s Ryan Reynolds disclosed that one specific line of dialogue was intended for the film but was requested by Disney to be left out.

Through a recent disclosure, the dividing line for the movie has been unveiled. This is because the Disney For Your Consideration (FYC) online platform has made available the film’s authentic screenplay, complete with the original witty remark.

What is the cut Mickey Mouse joke Disney didn’t want in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Shortly following Wade Wilson’s discovery that Magneto has passed away, he expresses his frustration to the camera, stating, “Oh great, not even room for another X-Man? Disney is stingy. I can hardly catch my breath with all these Mickey Mouse issues choking me.

Shawn Levy, the director, also disclosed that Disney requested them to edit a specific dialogue from the movie. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in August 2024, he stated, “We should never make fun of those who are vulnerable and only mock those who can handle it. Fortunately, whenever it was at Hugh’s expense in a self-referential manner, Hugh found it hilarious. There was only one line in the entire film that we were asked to alter. Ryan and I have agreed to keep this line secret until our dying day, but I will share that it was swapped with another equally raunchy dialogue about Pinocchio sticking his face up Deadpool’s backside and telling lies. I responded, ‘Ryan, that’s your alternative line when they ask for a clean-up.’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, always pushing the boundaries to the limit.

You can now stream the Marvel duo, Deadpool and Wolverine, featuring Hugh Jackman along with Ryan Reynolds, at home on Disney+.
