As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that this news has left me somewhat divided. On one hand, I was eagerly anticipating another installment in the Prince of Persia series, having grown fond of the franchise since its inception. The Lost Crown was a refreshing take on the saga and its rejection for a sequel is undeniably disappointing.
Although a sequel for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown might not be happening, the team previously involved in its production are currently aiding in the creation of a new Rayman remake instead.
Prince of Persia team shifted to Rayman Remake
Ubisoft has shared some news, both positive and negative. While Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown received positive feedback, plans for a sequel have unfortunately been turned down. Simultaneously, the team responsible for the game has been reallocated to work on different tasks, such as remaking Rayman.
According to Insider Gaming, the primary development of this remake, known as “Project Steambot”, is being handled by Ubisoft Milan – a studio with a history of contributing to more than 20 Ubisoft games over the last two decades.
In addition, it has been verified that Michel Ancel, the mastermind behind Rayman, is lending his expertise to the team, even though he was previously labeled as a challenging leader in 2020.
Approximately a dozen developers who previously worked on the defunct Prince of Persia team have moved to the Rayman remake initiative. Meanwhile, other team members are engaged in the development of Beyond Good & Evil 2 and the upcoming Ghost Recon project.
How do you feel about this recent update? Are you leaning towards wanting another Prince of Persia game, or are you more intrigued by the idea of a Rayman remake instead?
