As a hardcore anime fan with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the classics to the latest releases. And let me tell you, Ranma 1/2 is without a doubt, one of the most iconic and beloved series in the genre’s history.

The Ranma 1/2 manga has finished serialization. It ran from August 1987 to March 1996.

As an avid fan, I can tell you that this beloved series of mine consists of a grand total of 407 chapters spread across 38 volumes. Viz Media is responsible for bringing the North American and English versions of this masterpiece to us. They’ve made it more convenient for us by publishing these volumes in 2-in-1 editions. At present, there are 19 volumes available in the English language version.

Ranma 1/2 is an exhilarating adventure and martial arts manga created by the talented Rumiko Takahashi. Takahashi is renowned for her other works, including Urusei Yatsura and Inuyasha. Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine published Ranma 1/2 from August 1987 to March 1996. The initial anime adaptation debuted in April 1989, with Studio Deen handling production. Unfortunately, it only aired for 18 episodes due to poor ratings. However, Studio Deen returned with another adaptation titled Ranma 1/2: Classic, which aired from October 1989 to March 1992 and consisted of 143 episodes.

MAPPA is giving a new life to the series with a remake, and they’ve unveiled the first trailer for it. The reveal also brought forth the main cast, many of whom rejoin from the original anime. Set to premiere on October 5, 2024, this updated version will be accessible on Netflix for streaming.
