Adjusting to life in Bucharest and feeling a bit restless at home since my spouse Francis was always busy with his job, I couldn’t help but notice a man named Daniel Weber lurking around from afar. At first, I thought it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. But as the days went by, I became increasingly certain that he was following me.
During the movie, Monroe gives an enthralling act. However, her most remarkable scene is during the final confrontation with Daniel. In this pivotal moment, she manages to outsmart him and rescues herself after he kills Irina (Mădălina Anea).

However, little did our protagonist know that she had inadvertently forged a bond with a truly terrifying being.
When portraying Erica, Moretz’s lively and courageous roommate in the film, Monroe is missing for significant stretches. Nevertheless, Jordan deftly keeps her character relevant to the plot, ultimately taking charge in two striking scenes.
In one version, Monroe faces a nerve-wracking chase from a relentless stalker. In another, she engages Huppert in an exhilarating confrontation. Throughout these scenes, Monroe brilliantly demonstrates her skills as a survivor par excellence, making them the scariest moments of Greta.
Tau
Unlike Maika Monroe’s previous projects, I was drawn to “Tau” because of its distinct storyline. In this film, I found myself identifying with the character Julia, brilliantly played by Monroe. However, unlike other roles she has taken on, Julia finds herself in an extraordinary situation – being kidnapped from a nightclub by Alex, skillfully portrayed by Ed Skrein, for use in an artificial intelligence experiment.
An intriguing connection forms between Julia and Tau, represented by Gary Oldman’s voice in a drone, as Tau works tirelessly to help Julia make her getaway. In the end, Julia puts her trust in Tau, leading to enthralling exchanges between them.
Although Tau’s storyline is quite intimidating, it fails to stand out among other films exploring artificial intelligence or those classified as top thrillers in 2018. Moreover, the character development for Julia falls short, leaving much of her past untouched and her personality traits unclear.
Monroe brilliantly brought the character to life and showcased her exceptional acting skills, much like she did in her previous horror films. She managed to convey the character’s fear and resolve with great depth, making the movie even more engaging and delightful to watch.
