Rambo Origin Movie in the Works, First Plot Details Revealed

A new film about the origins of the character Rambo is being developed, and we now have some initial storyline details for this movie.

What do we know about the Rambo origin movie?

As per a recent update from Deadline, a fresh installment in the Rambo series is slated for release at the Cannes market, where it aims to secure distribution. This upcoming movie is being marketed as a prequel to the 1982 debut film titled First Blood, which first introduced the character of John Rambo.

The working title for the upcoming movie is “John Rambo,” and it’s set to be directed by Jalmari Helander (known for “Sisu” and “Big Game”). This film will reportedly focus on a young John Rambo during his experiences in the Vietnam War. At this point, casting is still in its initial stages. As per Deadline, they aim to start main filming in Thailand towards the end of this year.

Sylvester Stallone, famous for playing the iconic character Rambo, is reportedly conscious of a new film, but isn’t actively participating yet. There’s a possibility that he might join the cast if he chooses to do so. The opportunity remains open for him to potentially reappear in the movie.

The Rambo movie series spans five films, starting with First Blood from 1982, which was based on the 1972 book of the same name written by David Morrell. Most recently, Rambo: Last Blood hit theaters in 2019, and it was helmed by Adrian Grünberg. In this latest installment, Sylvester Stallone reprised his role as an aged Rambo.
