Rajinikanth reveals being 'dumbfounded' when he heard about Fahadh Faasil's role in Vettaiyan; calls him a ‘natural artist’

As a long-time admirer of Tamil cinema who has witnessed the evolution of some truly iconic figures, I must say that my excitement for the upcoming movie Vettaiyan is palpable. The fact that the legendary Rajinikanth is teaming up with the versatile Fahadh Faasil, a performer whose range and talent I’ve only recently begun to appreciate, has added an extra layer of anticipation.

This year, Rajinikanth is gearing up to create a splash at cinemas with his upcoming film Vettaiyan, set to hit screens on October 10, 2024. At the movie’s preview event, the renowned star showered praises on his co-star Fahadh Faasil, who takes on a humorous character in the film.

At the event, Rajinikanth commented, “In the movie, there’s a remarkable character portrayed by Fahadh Faasil. When I learned about this character, I was taken aback by who had been chosen to play it. The director then mentioned that we don’t need to approach numerous artists; instead, we should cast Fahadh Faasil for this role.

I was taken aback as I didn’t expect such a performance from Fahadh Faasil, given that I’ve only watched two Tamil movies of his, ‘Vikram’ and ‘Maamannan’, where he portrayed serious characters with villainous undertones. Yet, in this new role, his acting skills are extraordinary! I haven’t come across an artist as authentic as him in all my viewing experience. He truly transcends words.

In the action-drama movie “Vettaiyan,” helmed by TJ Gnanavel, the renowned actor takes on the role of an IPS officer. The film introduces Fahadh Faasil as Patrick, a character known for his humorous portrayal within the storyline.

The upcoming film is likely to show a confrontation of beliefs, with Rajinikanth portrayed as an expert in encounters and Amitabh Bachchan representing human rights. Additionally, this action-packed drama marks their reunion on screen for the first time in 33 years, both being major characters.

Beyond that, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Abhirami, Kishore, and numerous others in pivotal roles. Moreover, this project marks the fourth time Anirudh Ravichander teams up with the superstar for a captivating musical score.

Moving forward, Rajinikanth – fresh from a hospital stay following a medical treatment – is now focusing on the movie titled Coolie, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. This upcoming action-packed, pulse-racing thriller has already piqued the interest of diehard Rajinikanth admirers as its sneak peek was revealed.

In the film set to debut around 2025, notable actors such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and several others will be taking on significant parts.
