Rajinikanth opens up about Vettaiyan; compares TJ Gnanavel’s cop film to Darbar co-starring Nayanthara

As an ardent fan who has witnessed the illustrious career of Thalaivar, Rajinikanth, for decades, I can confidently say that the anticipation for his upcoming film, Vettaiyan, is palpable. Having grown up on a diet of Rajini sir’s cop films, I am eagerly waiting to see how TJ Gnanavel’s directorial will differ from the classic Darbar.

On September 28, renowned actor Rajinikanth, anticipating the launch of his eagerly-awaited movie titled Vettaiyan, was seen at the Chennai airport. In a conversation with the press, he shared that the film directed by TJ Gnanavel will deviate from his previous project, Darbar, in which he co-starred with Nayanthara.

As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about our upcoming masterpiece, Vettaiyan! The anticipation among the audience is palpable, and I truly hope that we manage to meet their high expectations. While both Darbar and Vettaiyan are cop films, let me assure you, dear fans, Vettaiyan will be a unique experience, distinct from Darbar in every sense.

For those unfamiliar, the upcoming movie Vettaiyan features the renowned actor Rajinikanth portraying an IPS officer who’s known for his effectiveness in police encounters. This film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is expected to be another action-packed Rajinikanth flick, as he reprises his role as a police officer yet again.

Speaking of the same topic, during a previous conversation with 123 Telugu, it was mentioned that the movie’s director has revealed that Rajinikanth will appear in multiple action scenes and songs, which will undeniably add an impressive visual experience back to the big screen once more.

Film director TJ Gnanavel stated, “Following the tremendous success of Jailer, there’s a significant rise in expectations for Mr. Rajini. The upcoming film, Vettaiyan, will feature music, action sequences, but I’ve remained true to my intended message. Unlike other films about encounter specialists, Vettaiyan delves into their thought processes and background stories.

Besides Rajinikanth, the film Vettaiyan also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Abhirami, and others in significant roles. Notably, this movie brings Thalaivar and Amitabh Bachchan together again after a gap of 33 years. The film is expected to premiere in theaters on October 10, 2024.

Additionally to his role in Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is expected to appear in the action movie Coolie, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Notable actors such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir are also part of this upcoming project.
