As a lifestyle expert with a deep-rooted love for cinema and music, I must say that witnessing the reunion of Rajinikanth and Malaysia Vasudevan after 27 years is nothing short of a nostalgic delight. It’s like savoring a long-lost flavor from your childhood, only to find it still as tantalizing as ever. The comeback song, Manasilaayo, has transported me back to the days when I would dance in my living room, imitating Rajinikanth’s iconic moves while singing along to Vasudevan’s melodious voice.
Rajinikanth is eagerly preparing for the launch of his upcoming film, Vettaiyan, helmed by the talented director TJ Gnanavel, who gained fame with Jai Bhim. The team behind the movie recently unveiled a large-scale dance track that showcases Rajinikanth and includes the voice of the late singer Malaysia Vasudevan.
In a unique blend of tradition and technology, Anirudh Ravichander’s song titled “Manasilaayo” resurrected Malaysia Vasudevan’s iconic voice with the assistance of his son, Yugendran Vasudevan, and AI. This melodious piece stirred feelings of nostalgia for many, symbolizing the long-awaited reunion of Rajinikanth and Malaysia Vasudevan after a gap of 27 years.
In addition to marking their reunion, the creators of the movie have put together a commemorative video highlighting the event. Using the phrase, “Timeless is Treasure! The Legendary duo returns with Manasilaayo after 27 years,” they released a special video featuring some of their classic hits.

Reflecting upon the long-awaited reunion of these legendary artists after all these years, I’ve observed an outpouring of affection from fans. One enthusiast even sparked memories of the golden era with their comment, “Ilayaraja + Malaysia Vasudevan + Rajini,” while another has been repeatedly playing the latest song on repeat, praising its charm.

In case you didn’t know, Malaysia Vasudevan, who sadly passed away in 2011, once sang for the song “Singam Ondru” in the movie Arunachalam from 1997. This track was created by Deva under the direction of Sundar C, and it was just one of many songs that the actor’s voice graced.
Apart from Singam Ondru, Vasudevan has also given voice to numerous famous Rajinikanth songs such as “Vethalaiya Pottendi” from Billa, “Aasai Nooru Vagai” from Adutha Varisu, and “Yejaman Kaladi Manneduthu” from Yejaman, among many others.
Now, the popular dance hit by Vettaiyan has reunited the duo of Rajinikanth and Manju Warrier, igniting dance floors everywhere. Moving on to the upcoming film, Vettiayan, it promises high-octane action as Rajinikanth takes on the character of an IPS officer.
In this upcoming film, Manju Warrier portrays his wife’s character, while notable actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Rithika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan are also part of the star-studded cast. This movie is set to premiere in theaters on October 10, 2024.
