This film skyrocketed to success at the box office and claimed one of the top spots among the year’s highest-grossing releases. Notably, it was only second to Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo in terms of Tamil cinema earnings that year.
It’s no shock that the movie has been successful in India, but it’s worth noting the buzz around “Jailer” in Japan. According to Rajinikanth’s official Japanese fan page, “Jailer” is set to premiere in various theaters throughout the country on February 21st.

For those not in the know, Rajinikanth has long held a significant following in Japan, evident through the enthusiasm for his films over the years. Particularly noteworthy is the actor’s 1995 film Muthu, which gained immense popularity when it was screened in Japan in 1998. This film catapulted Rajinikanth to stardom in Japan and was shown on as many as 50 screens nationwide at that time.
Title Translation: Prison Guard is an action-packed Tamil film featuring Superstar Rajinikanth, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Vinayakan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan and more in key roles.
The movie was scripted, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, and produced under the Sun Pictures label by Kalanithi N. Maran. Anirudh Ravichander was responsible for creating the film’s music, both background score and soundtrack. Vijay Kartik Kannan managed the cinematography, while R. Nirmal took care of the editing process.
In the upcoming film “Coolie,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Rajinikanth is set to appear. The production of this movie has been moving forward smoothly. Alongside Rajinikanth, this film boasts an impressive cast including Kannada megastar Upendra, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, Telugu cinema veteran Nagarjuna, and many other prominent actors.
Based on Lokesh’s interviews, Coolie plans to reveal Rajinikanth in a unique and unprecedented style. This project, as the director describes it, is somewhat of an experimental film, sparking enthusiasm among movie enthusiasts.
In addition to Coolie, the actor, the sequel to the movie Jailer will feature his presence too. This upcoming film is once again penned and directed by Nelson, with the popular musician Anirudh Ravichander handling the music score. Kalanithi N. Maran is set to resume his role as the producer under the Sun Pictures label.
