As a seasoned gamer with a knack for survival games and a penchant for 90’s nostalgia, the Y2K trailer has piqued my interest like no other! The blend of disaster comedy, high school drama, and technology gone awry is an exhilarating cocktail that promises to keep me on the edge of my seat.

24 Studios has unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming disaster comedy featuring Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler. Originally showcased during the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival back in March, the movie is set to hit theaters on December 6, 2024.

On New Year’s Eve, 1999, two insignificant high school students make a daring move by crashing the biggest party before the dawn of the new millennium. As the clock strikes twelve and ushers in the new year, the night takes an unexpected turn, becoming wilder than they ever thought possible.

The video highlights the sudden uprising of technology, where all machines have suddenly come to life with the intent of killing humans. In the middle of the chaos is a group of high schoolers fighting for their survival after their house party is interrupted by the disaster.

Y2K is helmed by Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter, both veterans from Saturday Night Live, in the roles of writer and director respectively. Joining them is an impressive lineup of actors such as Jaeden Martell known for his work in It movies, Julian Dennison from Deadpool 2, Alicia Silverstone famous for Clueless, Lachlan Watson recognized for Chucky, Mason Gooding of Scream VI fame, Tim Heidecker who starred in Us, Eduardo Franco seen in Booksmart and Stranger Things, Miles Robbins from Blockers, Fred Hechinger who appeared in Fear Street and The White Lotus, Daniel Zolghadri of Funny Pages, and the popular rapper The Kid Laroi.

The project originates from Jonah Hill, who will be producing it via his Strong Baby production company. This is another collaboration between Hill and A24, following their previous work on Mid90s, which was Hill’s first feature as a director.
