2025’s live-action adaptation of Snow White was a significant flop at the box office, and its lead actress, Rachel Zegler, has since spoken candidly about the experience and her plans for the future.
What did Rachel Zegler say about Snow White flopping?
In a recent conversation with i-D magazine, Zegler mentioned that she’s been largely criticized for the movie’s poor performance at the box office and the harsh comments she received online as a consequence. A debate ensued after Zegler posted a heartfelt message on X following the release of the Snow White teaser trailer in August 2024, where she thanked fans and concluded with “and always remember, free palestine.
Initially, the final post sparked widespread sharing, with contemporary accounts indicating that Disney insiders were taken aback by Zegler’s decision to make a political statement. Allegedly, Disney promptly contacted her, and the film’s producer Marc Platt traveled to New York to discuss the matter personally, but Zegler stood firm and declined to take down the post.
In her recent chat, Zegler admitted that speaking openly carries certain risks, yet she remains resolute in standing firm by her convictions.
In the latest interview, Zegler admitted that being vocal comes with potential consequences, but she’s not backing away from what she strongly believes.

In simpler terms, Zegler stated, “There’s no doubt speaking up has its risks, but I value life too much to let that stop me. If being compassionate is seen as a flaw, then so be it; there are far greater flaws.
Zegler disclosed that after the huge outcry about Snow White’s flop, she decided to return to her home in New Jersey from her residence in New York. Following consultation with a psychiatrist, Zegler came to understand that the intense hostility towards her was not typical, and now chooses not to be perceived as a victim of it.
My wonderful psychiatrist has guided me throughout everything,” Zegler stated. “‘What you’re experiencing is not typical,’ this phrase has been incredibly beneficial to me in numerous instances during my life.
I personally prefer not to adopt a victim mentality, nor respond negatively or harshly to it. Instead, I choose to focus on positivity, light, and happiness. I truly believe that happiness can be a conscious decision, and each day I’m grateful for the life I have.
