Rachel Brosnahan’s Superman Script Came With an ‘Exploding’ Surprise

Recently, Rachel Brosnahan, known for her role as Superman, discussed some intriguing aspects of her script for the James Gunn-directed project. In this upcoming movie, which will reboot the DC Universe, she portrays Lois Lane – Clark Kent, aka Superman’s coworker and romantic interest.

Rachel Brosnahan talks about her Superman script

The actress who plays The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel shared a story about the moment she read the entire script of James Gunn’s Superman for the first time.

Rachel Brosnahan told The Washington Post that her script was sent via a link that could only be opened once on a single device. When she opened it on her iPhone, she realized this fact. In a humorous manner, she said if one were to screenshot it, someone might show up at your door and imprison you in a well with a cage above it.

Furthermore, Brosnahan discussed her portrayal of Lois Lane in the interview. She highlighted that her interpretation of the character embodied “a drive, ambition, and a yearning for truth.” The actress from House of Cards admitted to possessing similar traits as well as an “inquiring nature.

In addition, Brosnahan expressed that portraying Lois Lane made her feel remarkably similar to acting as herself. She emphasized that this aspect of filming Superman was particularly nerve-wracking for her. “Not entirely for the reasons you might think,” she clarified, acknowledging that her statement could be misunderstood. “After all, we are not identical. Yet, I identify with various aspects of her character and was somewhat apprehensive about embodying these similarities.

Furthermore, The actress portraying The Courier revealed that both she and Lois Lane were characterized as being “meticulous” and “spontaneous.” She noted that Lois boasted about being “a step ahead of everyone else.” According to Brosnahan, when something intense like the deep affection she feels for Superman arises, it leaves her puzzled as she can’t seem to find a logical solution for it.

On July 11, 2025, James Gunn’s Superman will take flight in cinemas nationwide across the U.S. Alongside Rachel Brosnahan, notable actors such as David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, and Isabela Merced will also grace the screen.
